The Slotcar

Features

Unique finish: This model came in a special 'dirt/weathered' version. This means the car is factory equipped with realistic mud splashes and race-grime to mimic the look of the finish line in Le Mans.

Color scheme: Performed in the legendary blue-orange Gulf Racing-livery.

Lighting: Equipped with working headlights and taillights.

Technical platform: The car is DPR (Digital Plug Ready) prepared, which means that with a simple plug-in chip (C8515) it can be made digitally for Scalextric Digital jobs.

Tools: Equipped with a strong magnet (Magnatraction) for better handling and easily replaceable tow contacts (pickups).

Because it is a Club model from 2008, the car is nowadays a wanted collectible that can mainly be found on platforms such as eBay or through specialized slotcar specialty stores.

The Real Car
... is an iconic 1:32 slotcar that was released in 2008 as an exclusive Scalextric Club Edition. The model is based on the car of the Aston Martin Racing team that won the GT1 class in 2007 during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The true Aston Martin DBR9 #009 is one of the most successful and iconic GT racing cars in modern motorsport history. The car was built by Aston Martin Racing in partnership with Prodrive and dominated the GT1 class in the second half of the 2000s.

Here are the key facts and achievements of this legendary monster:

The Historical Victory (Le Mans 2007)
The car with start number #009 made history during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007.

The Drivers: The car was driven by the legendary trio David Brabham, Rickard Rydell and Darren Turner.
The Performance: After a bloodcurdling fight in the pouring rain, the #009 defeated Corvette Racing's factory team. It was the first class victory for Aston Martin at Le Mans since 1959.
The 'Weathered' Look: At the finish, the car was covered in rubber, mud and oil residue—exactly the dirty look Scalextric recreated on the C2965 model.

Technical Specifications
Among the iconic Gulf colors was pure racing technology:

Motor: An atmospheric 6.0-litre V12 that produced a deep, recognizable whining sound.
Power: Limits (due to regulations) to about 600 hp, with a torque of 700 Nm.
Chassis: An ultra-lightweight construction of carbon fiber (carbon fiber) panels over an aluminum frame, with a total weight of exactly 1,100 kg.
Top technology: Carbon fiber brakes and a sequential Xtrac six-speed gearbox.

The Gulf Livery
Although the DBR9 raced mainly in traditional British Racing Green in its first years (2005-2006), the team switched to the legendary light blue-orange colours of sponsor Gulf Oil in 2007 for the most important races. This design has become a modern classic.
Today, the original DBR9 chassis (only about 10 were built as a factory car) are worth millions of euros. They are cherished by collectors and occasionally still in action during historic race weekends such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed or the Le Mans Classic
